Network marketing is mostly carried out by people, including companies, who don't understand the system or the principles on which it must operate in order to succeed.
Network marketing is a very simple business but simple shouldn't be confused with easy. Indeed, network marketing is probably the hardest work you will ever do to earn an income. To begin with, the concept behind network marketing is simple.

Unfortunately, there are many MLM companies out there lying to people. These lies lead people to lose faith in the MLM system and the fact that good, honest companies actually exist. But it’s true; some do. Before you can spot them from the crowd, you need to know how to recognize the ones that are feeding you tall tales.
-MLM companies will tell you they do not spend a lot of money on expensive advertising.
In most cases, this is not true. MLM companies often spend money on advertising the product itself or on getting people to sign up as distributors for their company. Many spend a lot of money advertising to make their company names sound familiar so that more people want to sign up and work with them.
-MLM companies will tell you that anyone can sell their product and make money in the industry.
This is also not true. Some people are not born salesmen. Others can learn with proper training and practice and some people just never seem to be very good at it. Never allow anyone to tell you that the product will "sell itself" or that it doesn’t take any knowledge or skill to work in MLM.
-MLM companies will tell you "It’s not selling; it’s sharing".
These companies try to sugar-coat the truth to make it more appealing to prospects who do not like sales work. They will try to make you believe you are doing the world some great justice by making this product or service available to everyone. They want to make you feel good about pawning this product off on everyone you come into contact with. If you want to be successful in MLM, recognize it for what it really is.
-MLM companies will tell you to make a list of all your friends and family. They will be your "power list" of people to market to.
Anyone who has tried this knows it simply does not work. Not only will your family and friends not be inclined to buy from you, it won’t make you rich (unless you really have a lot of friends and family). This is all part of the lie to make you think that the product is so great, your friends and family will love you for giving them the opportunity to spend their hard-earned cash on it. The truth is, you will pressure your friends and family and likely will feel bad and possibly even harm relationships. Also, you won’t make many sales.
This is certainly not an exhaustive list of the lies that some MLM companies tell but don’t let this stop you from entering the industry if it’s something you really want to do. Instead, make yourself familiar with common lies and scams so that you can avoid them.
